UNC faces critical recruiting cycle

With several key pieces returning from a team that reached the national championship game last season, North Carolina should be in position to contend for an ACC title again next year. After the 2016-17 season, though, the program could be looking at a considerable rebuilding project.

In addition to graduating four seniors — center Kennedy Meeks, forward Isaiah Hicks, guard Nate Britt and reserve Stilman White — the Tar Heels could potentially lose wing Justin Jackson and point guard Joel Berry to the NBA Draft.

In that scenario, head coach Roy Williams would be challenged with replacing at least four starters.

With so many holes to fill, UNC could be leaning on a lot of unproven talent two years from now. Given that some of those players could be true freshmen, Williams and his staff will need to capitalize on the playing time they have to offer to 2017 prospects.
