North Carolina extended an offer to 2017 athlete Kayne Roberts on Dec. 3, and the 6-3, 195-pound athlete out of Greenback, Tenn., wasted no time in making his mind up on where to play college football.
Roberts gave a commitment that day to UNC, turning down overtures from Army, Coastal Carolina and Tennessee Tech.
Roberts camped in Chapel Hill during the summer and had been in dialogue with the coaching staff, most notably assistant Gunter Brewer.
Roberts has shown considerable durability, rushing for over 1,400 yards at running back his sophomore year and then helping Greenback High reach back-to-back state title games his junior and senior seasons.
Since UNC already has a pair of 3-star running back commitments in Michael Carter and Antwuan Branch, it’s not out of the realm of possibility he lines up at a different position. Junior Elijah Hood’s decision on whether or not to go pro could impact where Roberts ends up. Linebacker is also an option.
