Report: UNC assistant leaves for Auburn

North Carolina running backs coach Larry Porter has left for an offensive assistant position at Auburn, according to 247Sports.

Porter joined Larry Fedora’s UNC staff in 2014. In 2015, his running backs led a Tar Heel ground attack that finished first in the ACC in rushing yards per play (5.96). Last season, UNC finished No. 53 nationally in that category (4.73).

Elijah Hood, who led the Tar Heels in rushing each of the last two seasons, declared for the NFL Draft after the team’s 2016 campaign. The program returns just one scholarship back for next season.
