Malik Zaire holds off on picking a transfer destination

Former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire is putting his transfer decision on hold.

According to Scout.com, the 6-0, 225-pound signal-caller will not enroll in classes at his next school until the summer. He will spend the spring training in Arizona.

The delay in the process affects at least one ACC program. Zaire visited North Carolina earlier this month and was considering Wisconsin and Baylor in addition to the Tar Heels. UNC junior quarterback Mitch Trubisky reportedly received a first-round grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Committee. His departure would leave Carolina with an open competition between three inexperienced quarterbacks.

Zaire has one year of eligibility remaining and can play in 2017. He saw action in 17 games for the Irish, completing 58 of 98 passes for 816 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed for 324 yards on 45 carries for two scores.
