Bunting on Bill Dooley: ‘He changed the landscape in the ACC’


Former UNC football coach John Bunting joined The David Glenn Show on Wednesday to discuss the legacy of Bill Dooley. A college coach for 36 years, Dooley’s career included head-coaching stops at North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. He passed away this week at the age of 82.

Bunting, who played for Dooley in college from 1969-71, stated that his former coach revolutionized recruiting the ACC.

“That’s where he really changed the landscape in the ACC — the way he recruited,” Bunting said. “He had a great recruiting staff as well. They worked together.”

During the conversation, Bunting also talked about Dooley turning UNC into “Tailback U” and gave his best Dooley impersonation. Click below to hear the full interview:
