When Mike Elko left Wake Forest to become defensive coordinator at Notre Dame, we reported that the sense in the football offices was that linebackers coach Clark Lea would follow him.
Sports Illustrated is now reporting that a deal has been reached between Lea and Notre Dame. Lea spent one season at Wake Forest after coaching the previous three at Syracuse.
Lea, 35, coached under Elko and Clawson at Bowling Green in 2012. He has also been an assistant at UCLA and South Dakota State.

However, Elko was fixed on Lea all along. While Gilmore may be out, recruiting coordinator Mike Elston will return to coaching the linemen. Lea will be moving in with the linebackers.
Lea coached a strong unit at Wake Forest last year, led by Marquel Lee, but his replacement will be challenged. Why?
