Does UNC have its next dual-sport star? Kaleb Cost commits

Over the weekend, Kaleb Cost, a two-sport star from Tyrone (GA) Sandy Creek High School, committed to North Carolina.

A 5-foot-10, 180-pound cornerback, Cost ranks as a Top 70 player from the state or Georgia in the recruiting class of 2023, per 247 Sports. Cost also checks in as a Top 70 cornerback in the class, according to the recruiting service.

After a busy spring, loaded with visits, which included stops at UNC, Miami, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Mississippi State, UCF and Pittsburgh, Cost had more than a dozen offers to choose from. However, one week after his official visit to North Carolina, Cost picked the Tar Heels.

Cost had upcoming official visits scheduled for UCF and Pittsburgh, but, according to Inside Carolina, those visits have been canceled.

Recently, Cost had conversations with the UNC baseball staff, including manager Scott Forbes, and the program will welcome him into the fold, too.

Cost, who recorded three interceptions during the 2021 season, is now the fifth player in North Carolina’s 2023 class. He’s also the second 2023 commitment this week for UNC, both from Georgia: 3-star linebacker Caleb LaVallee picked North Carolina earlier this week (June 6).
