North Carolina fans are clamoring for head coach Larry Fedora to make a decision on who the Tar Heels’ starting quarterback will be moving forward. After a disastrous opener for senior transfer Brandon Harris, most Tar Heel supporters are in favor of redshirt freshman Chazz Surratt.
This is not new territory for the Tar Heels under Fedora. In 2014, UNC refused to name a firm starter at quarterback until after the season opener. Heading into that season’s second game, Fedora declared Marquise Williams was the clear-cut starter over Mitch Trubisky. However, Trubisky still appeared in 10 games for the Tar Heels in 2014, attempting at least six passes in six contests.
