North Carolina heads into the upcoming season with respectable veteran depth along its defensive line. The Tar Heels are returning a healthy Dajaun Drennon, along with fellow senior defensive end Tyler Powell. Also part of UNC’s two-deep rotation are juniors Jalen Dalton, Malik Carney, and Jeremiah Clarke, and sophomores Aaron Crawford and Jason Strowbridge. The Tar Heels also welcome in two talented in-state defensive linemen in Zach Gill and Jordon Riley, who are poised to play early.
Two veterans that aren’t returning to the UNC roster this fall, however, are defensive tackles Robert Dinkins and Marlon Dunlap. Dinkins left the Tar Heel program during the spring, while Dunlap moved on from UNC in July.
