Stop if you’ve heard this before: Mack Brown and UNC landed another high-profile in-state prospect in the 2021 class. On Wednesday night, 4-star safety/athlete DeAndre Boykins committed to North Carolina. Boykins, who hails from Concord, is considered a top-10 prospect in the state of North Carolina, according to 247 Sports.
UNC has 11 commitments in the 2021 class, currently. Brown has made localized recruiting a priority; of that group, 10 are from the state of North Carolina. It’s early, obviously, but North Carolina’s 2021 class ranks No. 4 overall in the country, per 247 Sports.
Boykins is the 8th prospect ranked in the ESPN Jr. 300 to commit to North Carolina. All are in-state prospects.
Only Clemson, Ohio State and Florida have more ESPN Jr. 300 commits at the moment. https://t.co/eDcmwQFgf8

Once again, wide receivers coach Lonnie Galloway, who led the way for Boykins, help landed a high-profile in-state prospect.
The commitment of Boykins comes one day after 3-star athlete Tymir Brown pledged to North Carolina, too.
