4-star OLB Payton Wilson, a recent UNC decommit, commits to NC State

A busy week for NC State football continued early into Friday evening. One day after Dave Doeren decided to stay in Raleigh, NC State landed a commitment from 4-star linebacker Payton Wilson.

Wilson is a local prospect, who plays his prep fall at Hillsborough (N.C.) Orange. According to 247 Sports, Wilson is ranked as the No. 65 overall player in the 2018 class. The 6-foot-4 outside linebacker is the No. 3 prospect in North Carolina, too.

Making it sweeter for Wolfpack fans: Wilson was previously committed to UNC. Seven months ago, back in May, Wilson committed to the Tar Heels. However, Wilson visited NC State the week of the Clemson game.

Back on November 22, Wilson decommitted from North Carolina. A week later, he’s headed to NC State.
