Over the weekend: NC State football picked up a commitment from Mario Love, a 3-star in-state defensive back.
Love, who hails from Cornelius, is just the third commit in NC State’s 2021 class. The 5-foot-10 love also had offers from North Carolina, Duke, Louisville, Penn State and Tennessee.

This is an interesting time for NC State, too. The last 12 months for the Wolfpack have been less than optimal; NC State slumped in the 2019 season, going 4-8 and missing a bowl game for the first time since 2013. That coincided with a somewhat lackluster 2020 recruiting class: No. 41 nationally and No. 6 in the ACC.
Over in Chapel Hill, Mack Brown and North Carolina have surged in this same window of time, especially on the recruiting front.
