Wake Forest redshirt freshman wide receiver Greg Dortch will miss the remainder of the football season after suffering an injury during the Demon Deacons’ 42-32 win over Louisville on Saturday, October 28.
Dortch suffered an abdominal injury that required surgery Saturday night at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
He had a spectacular game against Louisville on Saturday, setting a school record by catching four touchdown passes. The native of Richmond, Va. (Highland Springs HS) had 10 catches for 167 yards and four touchdowns. He had 216 all-purpose yards in the game.
Wake Forest’s leading receiver this year, Dortch had 53 receptions for 722 yards and nine touchdowns through the first eight games of the season.
He is expected to be replaced in the line-up by Tabari Hines, a junior who is the second-leading receiver on the club with 18 receptions for 250 yards and one touchdown.
Dortch is one of only three receivers in the nation to catch four touchdown passes in a game this year and he is the only freshman to do so. He leads the nation in touchdown receptions by a freshman, receiving yards by a freshman, and receiving yards per game by a freshman. Dortch is the nation’s top-rated freshman in all-purpose yards with 1,290 on the year.
