While most of Wake Forest’s football recruiting was without drama this year, the Deacons did land two players in the final days.
The big name was Arkeem Byrd, ranked as a three-star athlete, who didn’t commit until after 9 a.m. on Signing Day. The Deacons didn’t get heavily involved with Byrd until the final month, getting a visit in January, and Byrd said that he didn’t make his decision until that final morning.
Byrd (6-1, 190 pounds; 4.46 40) was recruited by Georgia Tech, Missouri, Louisville, Cincinnati, Minnesota and others.
