Demon Deacons strike gold again in Virginia

Once again Dave Clawson and his staff have struck recruiting gold in the state of Virginia. On Friday evening, the Demon Deacons added a commitment from Traveon Redd, a defensive back from Magna Vista High School in Ridgeway.

A consensus 3-star prospect, the 5-11, 180-pound Redd is the No. 64 safety and No. 34 defensive back prospect in the 247Sports Composite, as well as the No. 31 prospect in Virginia in the Rivals state rankings.

Redd committed to Wake Forest on Roanoke/Lynchburg CBS affiliate WDBJ in a ceremony at his high school.

Redd is the third Virginian to join Wake Forest’s 2016 class, joining defensive end Carlos Basham of Northside High School in Roanoke, and linebacker LaRonde Liverpool of Landstown High School in Virginia Beach.

Last fall, during his junior season, Redd helped lead Magna Vista to a 15-1 record and state championship in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 3A classification.
