Through decades of research, the ACC Sports Journal has found that recruiting results from four or five years ago often play a major role in the success or failure of a college football team. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Virginia finished 2-10 in 2013 with few veteran starters on the roster but showed significant improvement in 2014 when the team was stacked with talented fourth- and fifth-year players.
Heading into the 2015 season, the Cavaliers are once again in good shape from an experience standpoint. Over half of the team’s projected starters were members of the 2012 and 2011 signing classes, which were both ranked in the nation’s top 25.
