N.C. State and UNC renew their football rivalry Saturday on the field, but the two have run into each other more frequently on the recruiting trail as well.
Last year was a banner one for in-state recruiting, with 10 of the top 15 in Rivals.com’s final top 40 in the state ending up at either N.C. State or UNC. Both schools signed five apiece. UNC got the top prize in defensive lineman Jalen Dalton from Clemmons’ West Forsyth High, but NCSU had more top 10 players (four to three). Running back Reggie Gallaspy from Greensboro’s Southern Guilford High, who ran for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Pack’s win over Syracuse on Saturday, was just outside the top 10 at No. 11 but nevertheless the final four-star recruit in the state.
