Wolfpack picks up 4-star recruit

N.C. State tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Eddie Faulkner recruits the Charlotte-area for the Wolfpack, and he has clearly established a rapport with the top school in the city: Mallard Creek.

The high school has won three straight 4-AA state titles. Each of those teams featured a senior that would sign with N.C. State, including first-team All-ACC and rising junior Jaylen Samuels. Last February, the Wolfpack’s most highly touted signee was Mallard Creek four-star tight end Thaddeus Moss.

Another four-star prospect from Mallard Creek is set to matriculate at N.C. State next season: Grant Gibson, an interior line prospect on both sides of the ball.

The 6-1, 290-pound Gibson played mainly defensive tackle as a sophomore and offensive guard as a junior. Louisville recently offered Gibson, and he had earlier been tendered scholarships from Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

Rivals.com lists Gibson as its No. 6 junior in the state and No. 17 defensive tackle in the 2017 class nationally .
