Consequences of Martin twins transferring for N.C. State

 

The decision of point guard Cat Barber to fully dive into NBA Draft with no turning back was not a surprise. The revelation that the Martin twins, sophomores Caleb and Cody, were transferring probably was.

The two announced Thursday afternoon that they would be leaving the Wolfpack program. Caleb Martin was the team’s fourth-leading scorer at 11.5 points per game. He made 79 three-pointers, just two behind freshman Maverick Rowan for most on the squad, and his 36.1-percentage mark behind the arc tied Barber for team best among those who attempted at least 10 threes.

Cody averaged 6.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists, and his energy and versatility was often praised. He led the Pack with 40 steals, too, and played the backup point guard role in those rare occasions where Barber went to the bench.

The Martin twins figure to be hot commodities on the transfer circuit since they will be a package deal moving forward. In terms of basketball impact, their departure may not be as big as one may first suspect…
