Concussion sidelines ex-NC State star during summer league play

Former NC State guard Anthony “Cat” Barber’s NBA dreams took a bit of a hit this past week when he was confirmed to have sustained a concussion while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans’ summer team. He took a knee to the head in a game Wednesday, according to reports.

The concussion is a bit alarming since Barber has sustained some in the past, including during a preseason practice his freshman year at NC State when he collided with teammate T.J. Warren in a loose-ball scramble drill. The following summer, he reportedly had another concussion at Chris Paul’s Elite Guard Camp.

Prior to getting banged up, Barber had played in three games and averaged 8.3 points while shooting 10-of-24 from the field.

Barber left NC State after his junior season but went undrafted.
