Cat Barber Ready To Lead The Pack

Cat Barber heads into his junior season in Raleigh as the lead guard of the NC State, which appears poised for a fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance under coach Mark Gottfried. Barber, who averaged 12 points per game last season while shooting 38 percent on threes, talked about the massive weight loss of his classmate — junior big man BeeJay Anya. Now that Trevor Lacey has departed for professional ball in Italy, Barber will have to shoulder the lion’s share of the playmaking responsibilities, which is something he tells David Glenn that he’s more than ready for.

Barber — perhaps the fastest player in the ACC — says he and his teammates are excited for the start of what should be a challenging schedule. According to Barber, Terry Henderson, the junior transfer from West Virginia, and the Martin twins — Caleb and Cody — are ready to make the proverbial jump this year, too. Barber says Wolfpack Nation will be thrilled to see the production from NC State’s new wing corp.
