2017 quarterback chooses Wolfpack

Apparently, new NC State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Eli Drinkwitz does not mind his predecessor Matt Canada’s taste in signal callers.

Drinkwitz continued the Wolfpack’s recruitment of Raleigh Wakefield junior quarterback Matt McKay, and the three-star prospect committed to NCSU Friday night.

Canada had thought enough of McKay to extend him an offer when he landed at his new job at Pittsburgh. McKay had also been tendered offers from West Virginia, Temple and Old Dominion. He had been scheduled to unofficially visit Virginia Tech and Pitt this past weekend but cancelled those plans when he picked the Wolfpack.

McKay, who does not turn 17 until October, threw for 2,119 yards and 22 touchdowns and rushed for 1,019 yards and 11 scores last fall. Rivals.com rates him the No. 29 junior in the state.
