Since popping up on the radars of Power 5 programs a year ago, Alex Faniel has seen his recruitment take an unusual route.
After impressing at camps last spring, the 2017 quarterback picked up offers from Virginia Tech, NC State and UVa over the summer, and it appeared that many more schools would soon join the hunt. However, the Virginia native suffered a setback in the form of a hand injury that kept him out most of his junior season at St. Christopher’s School. As a result, the recruiting process calmed down.
