Wake Forest caused some football recruiting buzz by landing commitments from the highest-rated player in its 2018 class and from one of the highest-rated players overall in the class of 2019.
First, the Deacons added offensive tackle Devonte Gordon (6-5, 280) from Washington, D.C. Gordon is rated as the No. 51 tackle in 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings and No. 623 overall. He edges previous commits quarterback Sam Hartman (No. 690) and defensive tackle Kelijiha Brown (No. 693) in the composite rankings.
Then, Dave Clawson and his staff landed their first commit from the Class of 2019: quarterback Brendon Clark of Midlothian, Va. Clark is ranked as the No. 4 pro-style quarterback and No. 72 overall in the class. The rankings are very early and likely to change significantly as more recruiting services weigh in on the class.
