Insider: Wake Football football — the good and the bad at 2-0

With two blowout victories to open the season, it’s a little difficult to drill down too deeply into Wake Forest’s performances. Dave Clawson and his staff have tried to keep things as vanilla as possible so as not to tip their hand to opponents coming later in the season.

What is clear is that the Deacons are halfway to what they almost certainly need to accomplish to go bowling: win their first four games. After that comes a terrible stretch of Florida State, at Clemson, at Georgia Tech, Louisville and at Notre Dame. That likely will put the pressure on to win at least two of the last three games of the year: at Syracuse, N.C. State and Duke.

So in looking deeper into the first two games, almost every aspect of play has shown both some good and some warning signs. Let’s take a closer look:
