Wolfpack welcomes Gottfried’s son as transfer

Two Gottfrieds will be on the NC State bench this coming basketball season.

Cameron Gottfried, the son of Wolfpack head coach Mark Gottfried, transferred into the program as a walk-on this offseason and is enrolled in classes. He will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2016-17 campaign.

The younger Gottfried began his college career at Siena, where he played the last two seasons. As a sophomore in 2015-16, the 6-3 guard saw action in 22 games, shooting 6-of-7 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range.

Gottfried played his prep ball at Broughton High School in Raleigh, N.C., where he averaged over 12 points per game as a senior. He is one of two Broughton graduates on NC State’s roster, joining fellow walk-on Chris Brickhouse.
