Wake Forest received a commitment from a 2017 defensive back on Monday, but it wasn’t the defensive back it had been expecting a little while ago.
The Deacons had been tracking O.J. Tucker, a decommit from Georgia Tech, who originally scheduled a visit for Jan. 20. But Tucker committed to Iowa State before making it to Winston-Salem.
Instead, Dave Clawson and his staff landed a verbal from Tyriq Hardimon, a defensive back from Marietta, Ga. Hardimon had just decommitted from Cal, which fired coach Sonny Dykes unexpectedly this month.
