2. Philip Rivers, NC State
Rivers has a Dan Marino-like set of career passing numbers. He was years if not decades ahead of his peers — in terms of high-volume passing efficiency and production.
When Rivers finished his prolific career at NC State, he held a ridiculous number of NCAA/FBS records:
- 51 consecutive starts at quarterback
- 13,484 career passing yards, which as the time was No. 2 in NCAA history — now No. 14. That remains an ACC record, though
- Rivers threw 95 career touchdown passes — currently second most in ACC history and a Top 40 number in terms of the NCAA
