NC State and Pittsburgh could not have entered this past Tuesday in more similar situations. Both teams were 12-6 overall, 1-4 in the ACC and riding three-game losing skids that included costly home defeats.
Thus, both teams were understandably tense trying to get a much-needed win. NC State was the fortunate one that got to breathe a semi-sigh of relief, at least, after prevailing 79-74 thanks to a 14-2 run late in the second half to overcome a seven-point deficit with less than eight minutes left.
Given the split personalities of this Wolfpack squad, observers will need a couple of games to digest whether or not NC State has stopped the bleeding and righted the ship. Many thought that was the case after the Pack thumped Virginia Tech following an ACC-opening loss at Miami.
That did not turn out to be the case.
