Twenty-nine years after hearing his name called in the first round of the NFL Draft, former NC State wide receiver Haywood Jeffires joined The David Glenn Show to talk about the experience.
Jeffires, who played for the Wolfpack from 1983-86, was drafted by the Houston Oilers with the No. 20 overall pick in the 1987 NFL Draft. He noted during the interview with the DG Show that the transition to the NFL required a major adjustment.
“You’re going to have to mature as time goes along,” Jeffires said. “College is as much of a difference from high school because so many great players are playing all at one time, and everybody is just trying to prepare themselves throughout their senior year to put themselves in the best position to get drafted.”
