Heading into ACC play last season, Danny Manning had Wake Forest at 9-3, boasting of wins over Indiana, UCLA, Arkansas and LSU with a narrow loss to Xavier. His rebuilding process seemed to be in full swing.

Two months later, Manning was staring at the program’s worst record, 11-20, since the 2010-11 season, the first year of Jeff Bzdelik’s disastrous tenure. Manning has gone backward from Bzdelik’s final season, and now he loses two cornerstones — four-year starters Devin Thomas and Codi Miller-McIntyre.
