Wolfpack WR leaves the team

The Wolfpacker reported over the weekend that redshirt freshman receiver Brian Sessoms is no longer on NC State’s team. He has been removed from the official roster on GoPack.com.

There is no official word on Sessoms’ future plans.

The speedster was a track champion at Carver High in Winston-Salem, N.C,, winning the 200-meter dash as a junior and senior at the state 2A outdoor meet.

However, he never got to use that speed at NC State. He suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during the preseason and missed the year. Sessoms would have had a chance to contribute in the rotation had he been healthy, although he had not been expected to play a major role.

The vast majority of the receiving corps will be back in 2017. That, combined with the return of senior Jumichael Ramos — who, like Sessoms, missed the year with an injury — would have made playing time an uphill battle for Sessoms.
