One of Dave Clawson’s goals since taking over at Wake Forest has been to grow the number of veteran players in his lineup.
Clawson’s first several years have involved injecting new talent recruited by his own staff, while ridding the roster of holdovers from the Jim Grobe era. That’s led to a whole lot of youth on the field.
As Clawson enters his fourth season at Wake Forest, it’s still not a senior-dominated team. But it’s getting close.
The senior class is still tiny (nine players), but almost all of those players will be starters. There’s also a large contingent of juniors backed by a solid group of sophomores.
So the Deacons will be less reliant on redshirt freshmen compared to past seasons, and that’s a good thing. However, spring is still a good time to look at who might shine from the 2016 class.
Six redshirt freshmen are likely to play often in 2017. Who are they?
