Wake defensive tackle to transfer

The Deacons announced that defensive tackle Kahlil Welsh, who redshirted as a freshman this season, will transfer. Welsh was already behind older players like rising senior Josh Banks, junior Zeek Rodney and sophomores Willie Yarbary and Rashawn Shaw. But he also fell behind classmates Paris Black and Elontae Bateman, and Wake Forest has highly ranked tackle Sulaiman Kamara arriving in the fall.

Welsh was not highly ranked, although he did have offers from West Virginia, Illinois, Georgia Tech and others. His departure does help coach Dave Clawson with the problem that the Deacons are several scholarships over the limit for the fall.
