Clawson: ‘I knew we would be better this year’

Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson joined The David Glenn Show on Tuesday to talk about program goals, honoring the 2006 ACC championship team and this weekend’s game against Army.

Coming off back-to-back 3-9 seasons, Clawson stated repeatedly in the offseason that he expected improvement. The Deacons are off to a 5-2 start.

“I knew we would be better this year,” Clawson said. “I was just hoping the record would show that. So far, it has.”

Despite the hot start, the head coach is focused on winning the next game rather than aiming for long-term benchmarks.

“If you take care of the 1-0 goal enough times, all of those other big goals take care of themselves.”
