Cam Hayes officials signs with NC State; joins Nick Farrar, Ebenezer Dowuona

All three members of NC State’s 2020 recruiting class have signed within the first two days of college basketball’s fall signing period (Nov. 13-20).

This quick chain of events started with Nick Farrar — a 3-star power forward and the unofficial leader of this group — signing on Wednesday morning. Farrar committed to Kevin Keatts and NC State back in August. Later in the afternoon on Wednesday, NC State landed another signature, from the program’s most recent commitment: 3-star center Ebenezer Dowuona.

Then on Thursday morning — a few hours after NC State improved to 2-1 on the season with an 86-77 victory over FIU — Cam Hayes signed, too.

Hayes is the highest-rated signee in the Pack’s 2020 class: No. 5 point guard, No. 48 overall, according to 247 Sports. With senior Markell Johnson in his final season of college ball, Hayes is set to run with NC State’s point guard baton in 2020. (Get ready to run a lot of pick-and-roll action, Cam.)

Farrar and Hayes are both in-state prospects, too, hailing from Apex and Greensboro, respectively. In-state recruiting, of course, is an important area for Kevin Keatts.

NC State signed two in-state prospects in the 2018 class; however, one of those two — Ian Steere — transferred out after the first game of the 2018-19 season. Steere is now at St. John’s. The other player in that class, Manny Bates, has blocked 14 shots over the first three games (7.8 per 40 minutes) of this season, after redshirting a year ago.
