Will NC State add to its 2017 recruiting class?

Dave Doeren and his staff are getting close to completing their 2017 recruiting class.

NC State picked up a weekend commitment by landing Ibrahim Kante, a defensive end from Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, N.Y.

Kante is a late-bloomer who went to Cardinal Hayes in Bronx, N.Y., before using a postgrad season at Trinity-Pawling. The 6-5, 240-pounder reportedly has a 7-foot wingspan and is an intriguing athlete. He appeared destined for a MAC school after this fall.

That was before Temple offered in January. However, NC State offered, making the Owls’ turn on the leaderboard short-lived.

Kante joins Xavier Lyas of Durant High in Plant City, Fla., and Kevince Brown of Winter Park (Fla.) High as the defensive ends in NC State’s recruiting class. Overall, NC State has 19 verbal commitments in a year where it was expected to end up with around 20 players in its recruiting class.

The Pack is left with few remaining scholarships to offer. Who will fill the last remaining spots?
