Why was Jaylen Samuels left off the preseason All-ACC team?

Preseason all-conference teams can be fun. As a season approaches, these votes can help point out who or what we should keep an eye on. They’re also a way to reward these athletes who give so much time to their team and craft. They should also be taken with a grain of salt, though; these votes don’t really mean all that much. What happens over the course of the next few months will determine the best players, teams and coaches in the ACC.

With any of these practices, there will always be a few head-scratchers, like who are the three people that didn’t vote Deshaun Watson first team quarterback? When you get enough opinions in the room, there will be outliers; that’s just how this stuff works.

However, Wednesday’s release of the preseason All-ACC ballot left some media types and Wolfpack fans a bit stunned: all-purpose tight end Jaylen Samuels was left off the first team offense.
