Insider: Wake’s QB non-competition

John Wolford is doing everything he can to make things difficult for Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson and offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero.

Clawson and Ruggiero are determined to give the starting quarterback job back to Kendall Hinton, who held the spot for a couple quarters last season before suffering a knee injury. But Wolford also is determined, which surprises no one who has watched him throughout his career at Wake Forest, to take back the starting role he’s held 33 times over three seasons.

In two spring scrimmages, Wolford is 24 of 30 passing, rolling up 335 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions.

But Clawson isn’t going to cave in easily…
