“There’s never a night off in the ACC.” That’s a common expression that gets thrown around a lot during conference play to overemphasize the depth and day-to-day rigor of playing in perhaps the most potent basketball conference in America. This belief is especially true for point guards — where you must function as an extension of your coach, get your team in and out of its sets, hit your shots when they come within the flow of the game and defend your position. It’s a grind, and it takes a ridiculous combination of intuitive skills and hard work to even have a chance of staying above water.
