The Demon Deacons went down to Georgia and landed another defensive prospect: Evan Slocum. A 3-star safety from Cartersville, Slocum committed to Wake Forest on Friday.
Slocum picked Wake Forest over offers from Appalachian State, Duke, Memphis, Ole Miss and South Carolina. The 5-foot-10 athlete is the eighth commit in Wake Forest’s 2021 recruiting class, which includes another Georgia commit. Last Friday, cornerback Quincy Bryant — from Lilburn — committed, too.
As Conor O’Neill notes, Wake Forest already has two defenders from Cartersville on its roster: redshirt freshman Isaiah Chaney (DL) and redshirt sophomore Ja’Corey Johns (DE).
