Four ACC schools have hired new head coaches in the last two weeks, and the impact those changes have had on the recruiting trail is already showing.
According to The Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star (via 247Sports), 2016 cornerback Nick Grant decommitted from Virginia a day after the Cavaliers introduced Bronco Mendenhall as their new head coach. Per the report, Grant said Tuesday that he had not heard from UVa since news of Mendenhall’s hiring broke on Friday.
A native of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Grant originally pledged to the Wahoos in April. He is rated the No. 45 senior in his state on the 247Sports Composite.
Grant wasn’t the only ACC prospect to reopen his recruitment on Tuesday. Class of 2016 linebacker Victor Greene, who is Grant’s teammate at Courtland High School, decommitted from Virginia Tech, according to 247Sports. Greene’s decision to put himself back on the market came just over a week after Justin Fuente was introduced as the Hokies’ new head coach.
Greene is a consensus top-50 senior in the state of Virginia.
