Did another Atlantic Division coach indirectly help Dino Babers land an ACC job?

The head-coaching vacancy at Syracuse was filled over the weekend when the Orange announced Dino Babers as the next man to lead the program. Babers arrives at his new school after two successful seasons as head coach at Bowling Green.

After accepting the job with the Falcons two years ago, Babers won 18 games in only two seasons. On Friday, he guided the team to a victory over Northern Illinois in the MAC Championship Game.

Babers’ teams achieved a lot during his short, two-year tenure at Bowling Green. However, it was another coach who laid the foundation before he arrived. Ironically, that coach happens to currently be leading another program in the ACC’s Atlantic Division.
