Miami regained a commitment from a former linebacker pledge on Friday when Lake Worth, Florida, standout Zach McCloud rejoined the Hurricanes’ 2016 recruiting class. McCloud announced his decision to pledge to the Canes on Twitter during an official visit to Coral Gables.
The 6-2, 218-pound prospect originally committed to Miami in November 2014, but he reopened his recruitment last month just weeks after Al Golden was fired. In the following weeks, Mark Richt was named the new head coach, and McCloud was ultimately back on board.
McCloud is rated the No. 19 outside linebacker in the class of 2016 on the 247Sports Composite. He is one of three senior linebackers committed to the Canes.
With 17 players committed to its 2016 group, Miami’s class is ranked No. 21 nationally by Rivals.com.
