But this season, even now that most teams are in the Conference finals, Adam Silver and the rest of the league have still not announced who the league MVP is for the 2024-25 season.

How Is the NBA MVP Decided?

The NBA MVP is decided by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters who all cast votes for their top 5 MVP candidates. It is said that each voter assigns points based on the ranking, where first-place votes is worth 10 points, second place vote is worth 7, and that goes on down to the fifth place, which is the last and worth only 1 point. The player with the highest count wins the NBA MVP trophy in the end.

The race has now come down to only two possibilities and it is between Shai Gilgeous Alexanders of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. Both these players had phenomenal seasons, and are currently headed to game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals. While we are not sure about when the results will come out, we think they’ll come out right after Game 7’s conclusion. If Jokic wins the award, it’ll be his fourth award which will tie him with LeBron James, making him only the 6th player in NBA history to own 4 or more MVP awards.Meanwhile if SGA ends up winning the award, we’ll be celebrating the player of the best team in the NBA of the 2024-25 regular season. The Thunder won 68 games this season and were the best team in the entire NBA. So if you ask us, the obvious MVP choice should be SGA this season despite Jokic’s insane stats that he put up this season.
