The Bucks have landed one of the biggest names of the 2025 free-agent class.
Milwaukee has signed former Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner to a reported four-year, $107 million deal. The team announced the deal on July 7, which reportedly has a player option in its final year (2028-29) and a 15% trade kicker, per Charania.
“We are thrilled that Myles chose our team and city!” said Bucks general manager Jon Horst. “He’s a winner and a dynamic player who fits us on both ends of the court. This is a big day for the Bucks and the Milwaukee community, and we are excited to welcome Myles and his family.”
Turner had spent his entire 10-season NBA career with the Pacers and is the team’s all-time leading shot blocker. He averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2 blocks per game last season for Indiana and was an integral piece of their team as the Pacers reached their first NBA Finals since 2000.
He replaces Brook Lopez in the middle, as he signed a reported two-year deal with the LA Clippers. Turner was a pivotal piece in Indiana when president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard embarked on another rebuild midway through the 2021-22 season to form the core of this year’s squad.
According to multiple reports, the Bucks will waive nine-time All-Star Damian Lillard, who is expected to miss most of the upcoming season with an Achilles injury, to create the cap space to sign Turner.
The Pacers had a decision to make this summer about whether to surpass the luxury tax threshold with the knowledge that star guard Tyrese Haliburton likely won’t play in 2025-26.
Turner was often mentioned in trade rumors during his time with Indiana, but he remained in place as Pritchard dealt All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis to Sacramento for Haliburton. That transaction tipped off a string of moves that led to Indiana’s core team built around Turner, Haliburton and Pascal Siakam as it reached the NBA Finals.
In Milwaukee, Turner will join a frontline that features former Kia MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo as well as veterans Kyle Kuzma, Taurean Prince and others.
