Kon Knueppel’s dream of making it to the NBA has finally become a reality.The Wisconsin Lutheran High School and Duke University alum was taken with the No. 4 overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets. He became the highest player picked from the state of Wisconsin in the NBA draft.Knueppel played just one year in college for the Blue Devils, where he and the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, Cooper Flagg, helped Duke get to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 14.4 points per game for Duke in the 2024-25 season and earned ACC All-Freshman honors.He also comes from a basketball royalty family. His father, Kon, and mother, Chari Nordgaard Knueppel, were prolific scorers. His father, who attended Wisconsin Lutheran College, and his mother, who attended UW-Green Bay, finished their collegiate careers as the leading scorers for their programs. His father scored 2,064 points at Wisconsin Lutheran College and was a four-time All-Lake Michigan Conference selection. He held the scoring mark until 2019. Chari remains the all-time leading scorer at UW-Green Bay with 1,964 points during her career. She was also the Horizon League Player of the Year in 1999. Knueppel also has four younger brothers, Kager, Kinston, Kash and Kidman.
