Jake Paul is making his return to the ring for the first time since his November win over the legendary Mike Tyson on Saturday in a matchup against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and at least one expert expects him to be victorious once again.
In his preview for Saturday’s main event match in Anaheim, ESPN’s Timothy Bradley Jr. predicted that Paul will be the one who gets his hand raised when it’s all said and done.
“I believe the difference in experience, Chavez’s natural feel for the ring against Paul’s ruthless, undeniable drive to prove himself could be the subtle decider of who wins,” Bradley stated. “So, can Chavez beat Paul? Absolutely. But I don’t think he will.”
Chavez is one of the most experienced boxers Paul has faced in his young career, compiling a record of 54-6-1 with one no-contest and 34 knockouts. His last appearance in the ring was nearly a year ago in July when he defeated former UFC fighter Uriah Hall by unanimous decision. It was his first fight since 2021.
Paul (11-1, seven KOs) has been known for facing boxers much older than him and well past their primes. There was a 31-year age gap between him and Tyson, and there will be an 11-year difference when he faces the 39-year-old Chavez on Saturday.
Still, Paul has maintained his belief that another win could be enough for him to earn a title shot, which has been the biggest goal of his boxing career. The 28-year-old is confident that he will be able to get it done against Chavez and move on to bigger things.
