Former 5-star point guard Derryck Thornton is on the move, and this weekend he lands in Coral Gables to visit the Hurricanes.
Miami is one of four schools competing for Thornton, a 6-2 freshman who was granted his release to transfer from Duke. The Hurricanes have two open scholarships and a need at point guard (and center, but for that’s another article).
Thornton started 20 games and averaged 7.1 points and 2.6 assists in 26 minutes per game as a freshman but split amid apparent disagreement with Duke coaches on his role in the program.
