This season, the 15 ACC schools welcome approximately 80 basketball newcomers, which averages out to close to six per team. However, prior to the start of this year’s eight-day November national signing period, there are only 29 (less than two per school) verbal commitments by high school class of 2017 (senior) players to ACC schools.
Consequently, many more recruits will sign in the spring. But the quality of fall signees will be greater than the spring as each year 80 to 85 percent of the nation’s top 100 high school seniors sign national letters of intent in the fall.
With the fall signing period upon us, we rank the 29 verbally committed ACC high school senior recruits. Current ACC commitments with the greatest likelihood of becoming 2017 McDonald’s All-Americans are 6-4 South Carolina combo guard Jalek Felton, bound for North Carolina’s Tar Heels, and 6-7 Maryland wing forward D.J. Harvey, headed to Notre Dame.
